The 7th Grade Boys Basketball team saw its season come to an end with a hard fought 38-35 loss to Oberlin in the opening round of the PAC Tournament. With the loss, the Hurricanes finish the season 4-12.
The eighth-seeded Hurricanes and ninth-seeded Phoenix battled throughout the first half with neither team team taking a significant advantage. The teams traded trips to the free throw line in the final two seconds of the half with Oberlin ultimately taking a 16-15 edge to the break.
The third quarter was much of the same with Brooklyn taking its only lead of the second half late in the period as a Santana Sammons layup put the Hurricanes ahead, 25-23 late in the period. Oberlin then closed the quarter with a quick 7-0 run that proved critical.
Brooklyn failed to make a dent in the Oberlin advantage for much of the fourth quarter and trailed 36-29 with under two minutes to play. The Hurricanes rallied to close the gap to one with a 6-0 run and after a pair of Oberlin free throws, had a two possessions with under 30 seconds to play with a chance to tie the score. Ultimately, a buzzer-beating three-point attempt to send the game to overtime fell short.
