Brooklyn’s varsity baseball team battled but came up short losing to former conference rival Clearview on Saturday. The Hurricanes jumped out to an early 5 run lead in the top of the first inning when Dominic Barry laced a bases loaded triple to the right centerfield fence.
However, defensive miscues cost the team the lead and allowed the Clippers to put up six runs in the third inning. The back and forth game ended with the Hurricanes leaving tying run at second base in the top of the seventh inning. Barry led the team with two hits and 4 RBIs for the game. Jeremiah Gonzalez, Anthony Starr, James Trunkett and Adam Geballa each had one hit.
The Hurricanes will host the Clippers in a game next Friday at the Brooklyn varsity field.
