The Brooklyn varsity baseball team was excited to get back onto the diamond after the week long break due to the rain. They lost to Independence high school by the score of 10-3.

Elliot Loy got his first start of the season and did well keeping the Blue Devils off balance to get outs. Loy pitched 4 inning and gave up 5 earned runs. Loy registered one strike out.

Jared Greene pitched one inning of relief and gained 2 strike outs. Jimmy Gray also pitched an inning of relief.

On offense, Aaron Wrost led the team by having two base hits and a walk. Steven Shumney laced a single down the left field line to drive in a run and Jimmy Gray had two RBIs on a bases loaded fielders choice. Jared Green, Jeremy Senal, Tristan Peggs and Nick Baldwin each had one hit.

The Hurricanes head west to Clearview tomorrow to battle Clearview in a double header starting at 3:30.
