The Brooklyn Hurricanes earn a non conference win against Lake Ridge 83-56 on senior night. The Hurricanes came out flat early in the first quarter. A deep, buzzer beating 3 pointer by senior Tristan Peggs got the Hurricanes and the crowd fired up. Brooklyn would carry the momentum into the 2nd quarter. As the Hurricanes began to clamp down defensively, turnovers began to lead to transition points. Freshman Anthony Starr really set the tone for a solid defensive quarter for the Hurricanes, taking 3 charges in the quarter. By the end of the half, Brooklyn was able to overcome the early deficit and go into the locker room tied at 31. A few adjustments at halftime led to an explosive 3rd quarter. The Hurricanes would continue to lock down defensively and finish in transition en route to a 31 point 3rd quarter. In the 4th quarter, Brooklyn maintained the lead. The special night for the seniors was completed not only by the win, but senior Elliot Loy scored the last bucket of the game for the Hurricanes with a 3 pointer.
Brooklyn scoring was led by freshman Jaiden Basinger with 23 points. Freshman Calvin Gore had 20 points and 7 rebounds. Sophomore Tyler Elzholz left his imprint on the game scoring 13 points and grabbing a season high 17 rebounds. Senior Tristan Peggs scored 11 points and added 4 steals. Other scorers for the Hurricanes were senior Jamiar Tate, Stephen Chhan, senior AJ cruz, Maceo Pytel, senior Elliot Loy, Areon Cowling, and Anthony Starr.
