What a day for Brooklyn track and field!
The Boys and Girls had their best showing of the season in Independence. The girls scored 36 total points and were led by Jenna Young. Jenna won 1st place in high jump, 3rd place in 100 Hurdles, 3rd place in 300 Hurdles and 4th place in 200 M Dash, scoring a team high 27 points. Ashley Chong placed 5th in long jump with her best jump of the year, a jump of 14’10”. The girls 4X100 and 4X200 (Laura Nguyen, Ashley Chong, Rebecca Fagiani, and Alice Pham) both placed and scored a total of 5 points.
The boys spread out their 65 total points all over the place. The Hurricanes had 4 2nd place finishes on the day. Alex Chiclana took 2nd in the 110 Hurdles and 4th in 300 Hurdles, Massiah Baker took 2nd in the 400 M Dash with his best time of the season (54.28), Donovan Walker took 2nd in Long Jump with his best jump of the season (20’9″), and Stephen Chhan placed 2nd in Shot Put with his best throw of the season (40’3.5″). Chavon Holton added to the scoring with his 6th and 7th place finishes in 110 Hurdles and 300 Hurdles. In addition to his relays, Justin Pokorny rounded out the individual scoring with an 8th place finish in long jump. The boys 4X100 (Baker, Santana Sammons, Holton, Pokorny), 4X200 (Baker, Chiclana, Walker, Pokorny), 4X400 (Chiclana, Holton, Walker, Baker) and 4X800 (Abdallah Abu-Mathkour, Ayman Elouardighi, Brian Baisden, Tyler Pallotta) rounded out the scoring for the day. Great meet by all and great things to come as we work our way toward the CVC Championships.
