Third Inning Plays Key Role in Brooklyn Hurricanes Varsity Softball Victory Over Lutheran West
The Brooklyn Hurricanes Varsity Softball Team defeated Lutheran West 14-2 on Tuesday thanks to a timely 12 runs in a big third inning. Tori Clague, Gianni Jackson, Angelina Oquendo, Lexi Martinez, Regina Wrost and Katelynn Lorenzo each drove in runs during the inning. Brooklyn took the lead for good with 12 runs in the third inning. In the third Clague singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs, Jackson singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, an error scored one run for Brooklyn, Martinez doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Wrost singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, Lorenzo singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run, Sarah Young doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Erika Prusak singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, Oquendo singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and an error scored one run for Brooklyn. Gianni led the Brooklyn Hurricanes to victory on the pitcher’s mound. She surrendered three runs on four hits over five innings, striking out three. Michelle Goll took the loss for Lutheran West. She went four innings, allowing 14 runs on 15 hits and striking out two. Brooklyn totaled 15 hits in the game. Jackson, Lorenzo, Clague, Wrost, Prusak, and Oquendo all had multiple hits for Brooklyn. Oquendo, Prusak, Wrost, Clague, Lorenzo, and Jackson all had two hits to lead Brooklyn.
