The Brooklyn Hurricanes Varsity Softball team fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 22-2 loss to Wellington on Wednesday. Wellington scored on an error during Kendal Brasee’s at bat and a double by Amber Weatherbee in the first inning.
The Hurricanes struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Wellington, giving up 22 runs.
Wellington scored 15 runs in the second inning. Allissa Boraggina, Brasee, Weatherbee, Autumne Haswell, Brooklinn Damiano, and Hope Diermyer each had RBIs in the frame.
Rianna Rosecrans was the winning pitcher for Wellington. She went five innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out five and walking zero.
Angelina Oquendo took the loss for Brooklyn. She allowed five hits and 12 runs over one inning, striking out one.
Sarah Young went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Brooklyn.
Wellington racked up nine hits on the day. Brasee and Rosecrans each managed multiple hits for Wellington. Wellington was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Rosecrans made the most plays with six.
