After an unusual start to the game and an even more unusual 1st quarter defensive effort, Brooklyn fought its way back against Cardinal. Ryan Cutright buried a 3 pointer with 13 seconds left in OT on an assist from Raymier Cogburn to tie the game at 46. But Cardinal found an opening in the Hurricane defense and a layup as time expired sent the JV Canes to a 4 – 7 record. Brooklyn had a chance at the end of regulation but was unable to get off a shot.
This was a bounce back performance for a team who had been playing some of its worst basketball of the season. Cogburn led the ‘Canes with 19 points and 4 assists. Cutright scored 14 on 4 – 7 from beyond the arc. Anthony Starr came up 1 point short of a double- double with 9 points and 12 rebounds.
Brooklyn looks to build on this performance for the second half of the season.
